Tanzanians head to the ballot today, wih President Samia Suluhu expected to win the elections after barring her two leading opposition rivals.

The elections has pose several questions on the countryโ€™s democracy and the fate of Citizens. Tundu Lissuโ€™s opposition party CHADEMA will notย ย be in attendance at the elections since the leader is in trial for treason, which he denies.

When he tried to attend the trial of Tundu Lissu a week ago John Heche the deputy chairman, was bundled into a police vehicle and has never been seen since.

โ€œSince the October 1, 2025, there have been over 60 abductions and disappearances across the country and the number is growing, its completely in shams, there is no election at all,โ€ John Kitoka one of the CHADEMA opposition party said.ย

President Suluhuโ€™s Chama Cha Mapinduzi Party has ruled the country in a long time. She became President after the death of John Maghufuli four years ago.

Suluhu has promised to boost infrastructure and bring universal health insurance.

โ€œI want to assure the youth of Tanzania, do not be deceived into destroying your countryโ€™s peace. Follow the government and the law and you will live in safety and peace and no one will disturb youโ€ President Samia says.

โ€œThose who are sending messages to instigate violence, thereโ€™s no difference between you and somebody who has committed a crime, and we have the mechanisms online, we can monitor everything that has been said,โ€ said Bracius Chatanda, Kagera regional police.

Soldiers and police officers have been deployed across the country to ensure peace and order.
