RUTO EYES ARSENAL VISIT AS KENYA PAINTS TOWN RED AFTER HISTORIC EPL GLORY AFTER 22 YEARS

President William Ruto has formally invited English Premier League champions Arsenal to visit Kenya sometime in 2027.

The invitation comes after thousands of jubilant Arsenal fans flooded the streets of Nairobi and other towns in massive celebrations following the club’s first league title in 22 years. Arsenal clinched the 2025-26 Premier League crown on May 19, 2026, finishing with 85 points, seven ahead of Manchester City.

Speaking to Reuters on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, the self-confessed Arsenal supporter said he was stunned by the scale of the festivities in Kenya.

“It was a big celebration and I am trying to see whether sometime next year Arsenal can come to Kenya,” Ruto said. “I have sent an invitation because I think it would be a great moment for Arsenal to come to Kenya. They have great fans.”

Ruto confirmed that an official invitation has already been dispatched to the North London club. No response from Arsenal has been received so far.

The President’s move has excited many Kenyan fans, who hope to see stars like Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, or manager Mikel Arteta in person. However, some critics argue the focus should remain on developing local football infrastructure.
