NACADA, Kisii County Government Hold Drug Abuse Sensitization Program in Bogetenga Ward

The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), in partnership with the Kisii County Government, has conducted a sensitization program on drug and substance abuse in Bogetenga Ward, located in South Mugirango, Kisii County.

The initiative brought together community leaders, youth groups, local administrators, and residents with the aim of raising awareness about the dangers associated with drug and substance abuse, particularly among young people.

During the program, officials emphasized the importance of community involvement in the fight against drug abuse, noting that prevention efforts must begin at the family and community levels. Participants were educated on the harmful effects of drugs such as alcohol, bhang, and other illegal substances that continue to affect many young people in the region.

Facilitators also highlighted the need for early intervention, encouraging parents, teachers, and local leaders to identify and support individuals struggling with addiction.

The sensitization forum further provided guidance on available support systems, including counseling services and rehabilitation programs, to help affected individuals recover and reintegrate into society.

County officials noted that the campaign is part of a broader effort to curb the rising cases of drug and substance abuse in Kisii County and promote healthier lifestyles among residents.
