Murkomen applauds police, Says 'shoot when threatened'
In a strong message, Murkomen urged the officers to prioritize their safety and use necessary force to protect themselves, even instructing them to use their firearms if under attack.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the Kenyan police in upholding law and order, especially during recent unrest throughout the nation.
In a strong message, Murkomen urged the officers to prioritize their safety and use necessary force to protect themselves, even instructing them to use their firearms if under attack.
Addressing the police at Harambee house in Nairobi, Murkomen commended the security forces for their professionalism and courage in handling violent protests and criminal activities that have posed a threat to public peace.
"Police officers are individuals just like us. They deserve to be safe, and when their lives are in danger, they have the right to defend themselves. If someone threatens you while you are in uniform and armed, do not hesitate to defend yourself."
His comments come amidst growing tension in the public following widespread demonstrations, some of which escalated into chaos, resulting in injuries and property damage.
Numerous officers have suffered injuries while on duty, prompting calls for a review of operational protocols.
While acknowledging the constitutional right to peaceful protest, Murkomen emphasized that the government will not tolerate violence or assaults on law enforcement personnel.
He stressed that the value of life applies to everyone, including police officers who are responsible for upholding the law.
"Let's be clear: The right to protest does not include the right to destroy property, loot stores, or harm our officers. Anyone who resorts to violence against a police officer has crossed a dangerous line."
Despite criticism from human rights organizations, cautioning against potential police brutality and disproportionate use of force, Murkomen remained resolute in his stance, asserting that security is essential for the country's functionality.
His statements have sparked a lively debate among Kenyan citizens, with some supporting the Cabinet Secretary for his solidarity with the police, while others express concerns about adopting a harsh approach that could result in more civilian casualties.
