OPINION: ODM, The 'torn' yacht approaching a cliff!

The expectations are predictable; it will be ripped apart and remain a shell floating on an inhospitable territory, and survival will be equal to nil.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), then, was an established institution that at one time played a significant role in society, fighting for the rights of the people, ingrained in values of good governance, respect for the rule of law and constitutionalism.

ODM was an institution that was entrenched in tough principles and recognized over the longest period post-independence after the defunct KANU.

An institution, with solid traditions, procedures, norms and structures that set the pace for its sister parties, with a sizeable influence that shook the world of politics, within and without.

The ODM party is now critically ignorable; it is disregarded significantly by the useful and useless. It doesn't stand the loci to warrant attention from the masses anymore.

This came as a consequence of the selfish nature none other than Raila Odinga; a man with inconsiderate behaviors that he has survived with for ages. The 'kiosk' is collapsing on his watch amidst a change oriented political storm.

The top party leadership is helpless to salvage the situation because of the utter egocentric and egoistical character that some party officials became because of the love of the currency.

Broad-based, now acting as the hammer driving the last nail into the ODM party's political coffin, is doing it more hastily and expeditiously than expected.

Amidst the efforts to recoup the already sinking ship, staging confusing and contracting sentiments from different players seems to be hitting a snag!

Too long, too late; it's done and dusted.

The efforts can be equated to applying CPR as first aid with the hope of restoring breath to a corpse; it's impossible, an exercise in futility.
