Pamela Mwita Leads Road Safety Awareness for Nyamira Boda Boda Operators

Traffic Base Commander in Nyamira County, Pamela Mwita, has held a meeting with members of the Nyamira Bodaboda Association to sensitize them on the importance of road safety, especially during the ongoing rainy season.

During the meeting, Mwita urged motorcycle riders to strictly follow traffic rules and take extra caution while operating on wet and slippery roads. She reminded the riders to ensure they possess valid driving licences, proper insurance cover, and all required documentation before using the roads.

The commander also emphasized the need for riders to observe speed limits, noting that excessive speed during the rainy season increases the risk of accidents due to poor road conditions and reduced visibility.

Mwita further warned riders against engaging in drug and substance abuse, saying such behaviour compromises judgment and endangers the lives of passengers, pedestrians and other road users.

She encouraged bodaboda operators to act responsibly and prioritize the safety of their passengers, adding that discipline within the sector would help reduce road accidents in the county.

Members of the bodaboda association welcomed the sensitization program and pledged to cooperate with traffic police to promote safer roads across the region.

The engagement is part of ongoing efforts by traffic authorities to improve road safety awareness among motorcycle riders, who play a major role in providing transport services in many parts of the county.
