Rigathi Gachagua set for USA tour

DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua will embark on a two-month U.S.A. tour aimed at rallying diaspora support ahead of the 2027 elections.

This will be his first international trip since his impeachment from the Deputy President seat last October.

The former DP will visit several cities in the U.S.A. between July and August.

He is set to visit Dallas, California, Seattle, Boston, and Baltimore during his tour in the USA. Several town hall meetings and social gatherings are scheduled with Kenyans living in the US to push the agenda in the diaspora.

The former Deputy President is also set to engage with select American investors and business leaders as part of a wider effort to present the opposition as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general election.

The DCP leader will be hold meetings with investors keen on forming partnerships with the opposition in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, where Rigathi Gachagua aims to run for the Presidency.

“This is going to be a major tour for the DCP leader and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to connect with Kenyans in the US and seek input from all segments of the diaspora.” The source states.

“There are numerous events planned across several US cities, including concerts featuring Kenyan artists living in the US.”

He says; "We cannot build a future for Kenya without the diaspora. Your voice matters. Your presence counts.”

Gachagua launched pre-election campaigns with other leaders joining in to support him in his quest for better leadership.

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, a key figure in the opposition coalition alongside Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, PLP’s Martha Karua, and DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, recently launched his 2027 presidential campaign on the international stage.

Over the weekend, Matiang’i held a town hall meeting at the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in Irving, Texas, where he was warmly received by Kenyans living in the area.

The event drew a diverse crowd eager to hear his vision for the country and the role he envisions for the diaspora in shaping Kenya’s future.

Matiang’i, who recently resigned from his position at the World Bank to focus on the presidential race, reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership and acknowledged the growing influence of Kenyans abroad in national affairs.

His move comes just days before fellow opposition leader Rigathi Gachagua embarks on his own U.S. tour, aimed at strengthening the coalition’s presence and building international support ahead of the 2027 general election.
