Detectives in Mukaa Constituency, Makueni County, are investigating a horrific incident where a woman and her 20-year-old daughter were gang-raped during a violent home invasion on Tuesday night.
The victim reported that, four armed men stormed their home; they tied up her husband before taking turns assaulting her and their daughter. The attackers then fled with 46 goats.
The woman recounted; "Two tall men started speaking to my husband, telling him to remain silent if he valued his life."
Following the attack, neighbors helped recover 40 goats, but the suspects escaped with six. Police state they are pursuing crucial leads and expect to make arrests soon.
The incident has sparked outrage in the village. Residents are accusing local security officers of being lax, which they believe has allowed livestock theft and sexual violence to increase. They are now urging the police to take decisive action and restore security to the area.
During a security meeting in Upeponi village, local security officials assured residents that patrols have been increased. They also reported that 98 goats and 14 cows have been recovered in the past week.
Malili sub-county Police Commander Hussein Abduba stated, "Patrols zinafanywa vizuri, tukiendelea hivi na kushirikiana na wenyeji tuwe tunapasha na kushare information,".
