Government itensifies crackdown on illicit brew and narcotic drugs

Kenya - Law enforcement agencies are stepping up their efforts to combat the proliferation of illicit brews and narcotic drugs across Kisii and Western Kenya.
Successful operations have been reported in Kisii and Bungoma Counties over the past two days.
Officers from Nyangusu Police Station in Kisii County conducted a targeted raid at a suspect's residence in Nyangusu Sub-Location, Nyamache Sub-County.
The operation yielded a significant seizure of 20 litres of the illicit brew chang'aa, while an additional 210 litres of kangara were discovered and destroyed on site. The suspect was apprehended, processed at Nyangusu Police Station, and subsequently charged at the Ogembo Law Courts.
This successful raid underscores the National Police Service's (NPS) ongoing commitment to eradicating illegal alcoholic substances. The NPS has urged the public to continue their vital support by reporting any suspicious activities related to illicit brews.
In Bungoma County, NPS officers from Bungoma West Sub-County achieved a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics on Sunday.
Acting on a crucial tip-off from members of the public, officers raided the home of Beatrice Nekesa Wafula in Nabuloli Village. The operation resulted in the recovery of 154 rolls of cannabis sativa.
Ms. Wafula was arrested and is currently being held at Sirisia Police Station, awaiting arraignment at the Sirisia Law Courts. The recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits at the same facility.
The National Police Service has commended members of the public for their continued cooperation and invaluable intelligence, which has been instrumental in these successful arrests and recoveries.
