Gusii Leaders Mourn Raila Odinga In Touching Tributes

Gusii Leaders joined other Kenyans and the World in the mourning the death of Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who passed Wednesday morning in India.ย 

Nominated Senator Essy Okenyuri says Kenya is in tears and drowned in desolation.

"The man who frowned upon dictatorial tendencies, a statesman who took the lead in fighting for Multiparty Democracy in our Country and brought the one Party State rule to an end by ensuring that Kenya enjoys the Constitution and constitutionalism has rested."

She says; Raila was a verified patriot who prioritized Kenyan interests over self interest by resisting external manipulations and internal betrayals calling for an ideological shift towards self autonomy."

She mourns; "A proper fighter, he purified our political space by elevating the credibility and legitimacy of the electoral process in our country. The election process in Kenya was singlehandedly given a fresh breath by Jakom and it guaranteed Kenyans autonomy in democratic practice."

Ms Okenyuri says; "The departure of Baba leaves many of us shocked, he bows out leaving a huge legacy that will forever live on in our hearts."

Ex-Kisii Governor James Ongwae and a former Raila's Chief campaigner says Kenya has lost a true servant leaders.

"I disciplined and honest politician. We mourn an African Icon. May the family find peace and hope that the former Primer Minister has finished his journey."

We pray for the repose of the soul of Former Prime Minister Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, may the soul of the pan - Africanist rest in eternal peace.

Onyonka says; "Through decades of turmoil and transition, you taught us that Kenyaโ€™s strength lies in its diversity, that peace must never be traded for political convenience, and that every generation must guard democracy with courage and compassion."

The Senator says Raila's courage during moments of national crisis inspired many of to remain steadfast in the pursuit of truth and fairness, even when the path was steep.

"He believed in a Kenya united in its diversity, where every community could share equally in the promise of prosperity. He remained a constant, mentoring, guiding, and reminding us that leadership is about service and sacrifice, not self gain."

He says; "Personally, he was more than a leader to me , my mentor, my guide, and my friend. You saw potential in others, nurtured it, and led by example. Your counsel shaped my political path and my understanding of true patriotism."

Kisii Governor Simba Arati says Raila was his mentor, trusted confidant, and party leader.

"He dedicated his life to servant leadership, guiding Kenyaโ€™s journey with unwavering strength and inspiring younger leaders."

Nyaribari Msaba MP Dr Daniel Manduku said Kenya's democracy, freedom and constitionalism has flourished through Raila's struggles.

"We are now a modern country governed by rule of law and a dynamic nation. Through thick and thin, Raila has fought for the nation's stability. His life of service stretched beyond most of our living memories."

West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka said Raila's courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of good governance and national unity have left an indelible mark on our Republic.

"Through decades of selfless service and sacrifice, he stood as a beacon of hope and an embodiment of leadership guided by conviction rather than convenience."

He says the great people of Gusii generally, and West Mugirango in particular, recall with deep appreciation that it was during Railaโ€™s tenure as Minister for Roads that the then perennially impossible Kisiiโ€“Chemosit Road was finally tarmacked.

"This milestone remains a testament to his visionary leadership and his genuine concern for equitable development across the country. We remember a man whose vision transcended politics , a leader who inspired generations, and shaped the democratic space we all enjoy today. His legacy will endure in the hearts of millions whose lives he touched and whose dreams he helped to awaken."

Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi says; "Raila was a towering statesman and political enigma whose indomitable spirit, courage, and unwavering commitment to democracy shaped the course of Kenyaโ€™s history."

He says; "In his legacy, generations will find inspiration to stand firm for truth and to serve the nation selflessly."

Former Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi says Raila's life was a living testament to courage, sacrifice, and an unyielding belief in the sovereignty and dignity of the Kenyan people.

"Through decades of struggle and public service, he stood unbowed in his conviction that freedom, democracy, and justice must be the pillars of our Republic."
