Onyonka said the boda boda riders play a critical role in the economy.

Dr Ondari said bodaboda sector is the backbone of the local economy, providing thousands of jobs and supporting families across Kisii County.

"It is therefore painful to see young people, who should be focused on earning a decent living, dragged into conflicts that only breed insecurity and mistrust."

He has called upon the relevant authorities to act swiftly to restore order, protect people, and ensure that perpetrators of this violence face justice.

"I equally urge bodaboda leaders to rise above factionalism and embrace dialogue and unity for the good of their members and the community at large. As leaders, we must champion peace and create opportunities for our youth, not allow them to be consumed by conflict."

The 2027 Governor hopeful said Kisii deserves a peaceful, safe, and prosperous environment where everyone can thrive without fear.

"Violence has no place in our county, and together, we must reject it in all its forms."
