The National Police Service in Nyandarua County has taken decisive action against individuals involved in looting, following a series of violent incidents

In a statement shared on their official social media channels, the police announced a targeted operation carried out in the early hours of yesterday in the Huruma and Vatican neighborhoods of Olโ€™Kalou Township.

During the operation, 11 suspects were apprehended, with some found in possession of items believed to have been stolen during the recent unrest.

The recovered items have been carefully preserved as evidence and are being held at a secure police facility for further investigation.

"All suspects are currently under police custody, awaiting processing and court appearance."

The police highlighted that the operation was a response to the increasing incidents of theft and property damage reported during the protests.

The NPS also issued a strong message to the public, especially the youth, urging them to refrain from participating in violence, looting, or damaging property during demonstrations.

The statement emphasized the importance of peaceful protests and adherence to the law.

As investigations and legal proceedings continue, the NPS reiterated its commitment to upholding law and order and safeguarding both public and private property during times of unrest.

This crackdown forms part of the government's ongoing efforts to promote accountability and combat criminal activities that often masquerade as protests.
