SALARY ENHANCEMENT FOR TEACHERS IN ISIOLO MUNICIPALITY

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has implemented enhanced salaries and allowances for teachers in Isiolo municipality. 

This move is part of the commission's efforts to ensure timely and fair remuneration for teachers in gazetted municipalities.

The TSC signed a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with teachers' unions on July 13, 2021, outlining the terms and conditions of service for teachers from 2021-2025.

Following an advisory from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), the commission and teachers' unions reviewed the CBA and signed an addendum on August 28, 2023.

The reviewed CBA is being implemented in two phases, effective July 2023. The first phase was successfully implemented from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. 

The second phase, which commenced on July 1, 2024, includes enhanced basic salary and House Allowance for all teachers, including those in Isiolo municipality.

The House Allowance has been categorized based on stations, with Isiolo municipality classified under Cluster 3. This represents an enhancement from the previous Cluster 4.

The commission has implemented payment of enhanced House Allowance to teachers formally in Cluster 4, including those in municipalities.

The TSC has confirmed that there are no outstanding payments for House Allowance. The commission is committed to ensuring timely and fair remuneration for teachers in gazetted municipalities. 

The TSC has enhanced both basic salary and House Allowance for all teachers, including those in Isiolo municipality, with payment of House Allowance done based on three categories: Nairobi, Major Municipality, and other areas.

Major municipalities include Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Mombasa, Kisii, Nyeri, Thika, Malindi, and Kitale, while the rest of the areas attract House Allowance under Cluster 3.
