Senator Okenyuri: Dreams of many have been shattered

Nominated Senator Essy Okenyuri says the Kijauri junction stretch along Kisii-Sotik road where the Friday afternoon accident occured had been identified by the locals as a black spot.
Okenyuri says the Kenya National Highways Authority should have taken necessary measures that will aid in reducing accidents of such magnitude presently and in the future.
At least seven people were killed while 11 others were injured in the grisly road accident.
The accident involved a trailer loaded with logs that reportedly lost control and rammed into a private car with two brothers who perished on the spot anmd matatus that were parked by the roadside picking up passengers.
The two brothers were headed home after attending a funeral in the nearby village. Their spouses had alighted the car to do some purchases at the shopping centre.
Senator Okenyuri says thta following the occurrence of this accident several people have had their dreasm cut short.

"Small scale traders who were trying to earn a living for themselves and their families have departed, passengers travelling to different destinations injured and dreams of many shattered leaving their families drowning in distress."
She says; "I wish all those injured a quick recovery. My heart goes out to the families and friends of those who have passed on, may the souls of those who have departed rest in eternal peace."
Following the accident, Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo says his admnistration is assesing the required suppoert in prepartion for helping the affected families.
"My admnistration will foot the medical bills for all those recovering at various hospitals. Speedy recovery to the injured."
The Governor says he will work with other state aegencies in establishing safety for all road users as well as those enaged in business along movement coridors.
