ACK church raid adds to Kirinyaga theft cases

Thieves broke into the All Saint Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Gatweon Sunday night, stealing audio equipment worth over Sh 700,000.

The incident was discovered Monday morning. The church priest David warui say the suspects accessed the church and stole wine, screens, microphones and a mixer.

"The gateman was found tied inside the church and was rushed to a dispensary for treatment," said Cyrus Ngue a church member.

This is the third church break-in reported in Kirinyaga in recent months.

In January, thieves hit another ACK church in Nyanjukini, and in September last year, musical instruments were stolen from a church in Sagana.

This has raised a concern as the community members are living in fear as they call for intervention from the government.

Residents are calling for tighter security and quicker police response.
