Bokeira residents celebrate removal of Member of County Assembly

By Gloria Atandi
Residents of Bokeira Ward in Nyamira County came out this week to express their gratitude to the Nyamira County Assembly for the recent removal of their Member of County Assembly (MCA), Joel Ombogi.
The community members say the decision was long overdue, accusing Ombogi of neglecting their needs and failing to represent them effectively in the county assembly.Β
According to several residents, the MCA has been largely absent from the ward, rarely engaging with locals or addressing the pressing issues affecting them.
"We are happy he is out. We voted for him hoping he would bring change, but he disappeared after the elections," said one resident.Β
Others echoed similar sentiments, stating that they felt ignored and misrepresented during his time in office.
Some residents also voiced concerns that Hon. Ombogi might attempt to appeal the decision, urging the judiciary not to entertain any such move.Β
Despite past support for the now-removed MCA, many constituents say they are ready for fresh leadership and plan to elect someone who will be present, accountable, and committed to development in the ward.
