Court detains OCS Talaam as IPOA Seeks more time in Ojwang’s murder case.

Central Police Station Officer Commanding Station Samson Talaam will remain in custody for an additional two days, pending a court decision on whether the Independent Policing Oversight Authority will be granted 21 more days to conclude investigations into the death of Albert Ojwang’.

Talaam was presented in court Monday following his recent arrest in connection with the controversial death of Ojwang’, who died while in police custody at Central Police Station.

IPOA has petitioned the court to allow more time for a comprehensive probe, arguing that the matter involves multiple officers, forensic review of CCTV footage, and collection of witness testimonies which require adequate time.

The court is expected to rule on the application within the next 48 hours, during which Talaam will remain detained. 

This development follows public demonstrations and demands by human rights groups for accountability in police custody deaths.

Ojwang’s family and supporters welcomed the move as a step towards justice, while civil society organizations continue to monitor the case closely.

IPOA has assured the public of its commitment to conduct thorough and impartial investigations.
