First Female Kisii University President; "Proud To Have Served This Great Academic Hub"

Outgoing Kisii University first female President Marymaria Nyagaka says she is satisfied to have served the great academic hub.ย
"Truly this shaped, strengthened and leveraged focus to champion for the voice of the unheard," she says.
The Law School Fourth Year student says she is proud that throughout her tenure she managed to consult and put into action the issue of student marks particularly school of education, improved health conferences, ample networking and unity free from confrontation.
"Going forward, we are not stopping here but rather transitioning to issues of national interest that will be inclusive of every citizen. We have the potential."
She says, indeed Kisii University prides as a borderless and inclusive institution indeed. "Through the approved constitution we managed to have meaningful conversations with students from all corners of the world."
She has since called on the incoming regime to deliver to perfection. "May the good Lord bless the incoming regime as they take the mantle."

In July 2025, Ms Nyagaka was honored to represent Kenya and her field in the 2025 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) Program on Womenโs Leadership at the University of Delaware.
The program brings together a cohort of emerging women leaders from across the globe for intensive academic, cultural, and leadership training.ย
"This experience sharpened my perspective on inclusive leadership and civic responsibility. Engaging directly with community-driven solutions reaffirmed my belief that sustainable leadership begins with service."
One of the most exciting parts of my SUSI Leadership journey was the opportunity to explore equity, representation, and empowering local communities.ย
"These conversations, held on different days, formed a powerful thread of what true leadership looks like; intentional, informed, and people-centered."
She says walking through the United Nations Headquarters in the New York; where global decisions are made and standing at the heart of global diplomacy was both humbling and inspiring.
"Learning about the rich history of the UN and its role in shaping world affairs deepened my appreciation for international cooperation and the pursuit of peace, adding; "This experience reaffirmed that as young African leaders, our voices belong in these rooms where solutions are shaped and futures are decided."
The U.S. State Departmentโs unwavering commitment to empowering young leaders and investing in Kenyaโs future through transformative exchange programs, she says will foster meaningful partnerships that drive progress.
"The trip reaffirmed the importance of people-centered leadership, collaboration, and open dialogue in driving meaningful change. Grateful to continue shaping solutions for our communities and beyond."
