Kisii town Market burnt to ashes, Governor Arati issues a statement
"It is totally unacceptable, indecent, and inhumane for anyone to torch people's properties for any reason."

A devastating fire razed down the historic Marikiti market in Kisii town, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in its wake. The inferno, which broke out in the wee hours of the morning, gutted the bustling marketplace, reducing it to ashes.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati swiftly responded to the incident, releasing a statement expressing his deep sorrow and outrage. "This morning, I have been woken with calls of desperation, images, and video clips of a fire incident at the Market area near Capital Roundabout affecting my people," he said.
Describing the incident as an arson attack, Governor Arati condemned the perpetrators, stating, "It is totally unacceptable, indecent, and inhumane for anyone to torch people's properties for any reason." He emphasized that the people of Kisii strive to make a decent living and need to be protected at all costs.
The Governor pledged his administration's support to help the affected traders rebuild their livelihoods, saying, "I stand with my people who have lost a lot and pledge that my administration will support your effort to rebuild your source of livelihoods again."
Governor Arati has called upon the security agencies to leave no stone unturned in investigating the incident. "I call upon the security agencies to use all means possible, piece all evidence together from CCTV footages around the affected area, witness statements, and bring the culprits to book at the earliest opportunity," he urged.
As the people of Kisii come to terms with the loss, the Governor's words of comfort offer some solace. "Poleni sana," he said, extending his condolences to the affected traders. The community now looks forward to a swift investigation and justice for the perpetrators.
