Nyamira county MCA's ordered to revisit budget.

Nyamira MCAs have been ordered to revisit the budget amidst allegations of ghost allocations and unimplemented projects.

The Nyamira County Assembly is set for a fresh round of budget review next week, following a directive for Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to revisit the proposed financial estimates.

This comes amidst growing concerns highlighted by budget champions, including Douglas, who have pointed out questionable allocations within the document.

"We analysed the budget to the MCA's, pin pointing the issues in the budget that have been recurrent and we also noticed that in the previous year, the office of Gender and Disability was allocated Sh 7 million to give out as salary yet Nyamira county does not have a disability board. So where did the money go?"

Such an allocation for a non-existent entity raises serious questions about the integrity of the budget preparation process and the transparency of public finance management in Nyamira County. This alleged "ghost allocation" has fueled public outcry and calls for greater accountability from the county leadership.

Furthermore, Nyamira budget champions are pressing the county government for tangible evidence of projects like the Froca initiative. Froca, that deals with projects like growing nursery beds, drilling boreholes, and protecting streets, has been allocated 210 million and they are requesting the MCA's to do social audit so that the people will know how those funds have been used.

Douglas and other champions are urgently requesting to see these projects being worked on, emphasizing the need for funds to translate into tangible benefits for the residents of Nyamira.

The outcome of this budget review will be a true test of the Assembly's commitment and its dedication to safeguarding public resources from potential misuse. The expectation is that the revised budget will bring visible impact, with every shilling allocated translating into real development for the people of Nyamira.
