Police Intercept Lorry Ferrying suspected Ethanol at Busia.

In a major crackdown on illegal trade, police officers from Busia Police Station have impounded a lorry transporting 8,750 litres of suspected ethanol in the Marachi area.
Acting on a tip-off received late Thursday night, officers swiftly mounted an operation targeting a vehicle believed to be ferrying illegal substances.
The lorry was intercepted and subjected to a thorough inspection, during which 35 plastic drums each with a capacity of 250 litres were discovered, all containing the suspected ethanol.
Two individuals, including the driver and another occupant, were arrested at the scene and are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment.
The impounded vehicle has been taken to Busia Police Station as investigations continue.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) lauded members of the public for their vigilance and timely information, which was instrumental to the success of the operation.
The NPS reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public safety and maintaining law and order by curbing such unlawful activities.
Police have not yet disclosed the intended destination of the consignment or the origin of the ethanol, pending further investigations.
