President Ruto Reshapes  Military Leadership with strategic Appointments and Promotions.

President William Ruto has recently announced a series of significant appointments and promotions within the Kenya Defence Forces, showcasing his dedication to strengthening the leadership and efficiency of the military. 

These decisions were made following careful recommendations by the Defence Council, led by Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Roselinda Soipan Tuya.

One of the notable promotions includes Major General David Kipkemboi Ketter being elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed as the new Commander of the Kenya Army. He takes over from Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Chemwaina Tarus, who will now serve as the Vice Chancellor of the National Defence University - Kenya (NDU-K). Prior to this role, Lt. Gen. Ketter held the position of Assistant Chief of Defence Forces overseeing Personnel and Logistics.

In the Kenya Air Force, Major General Benard Waliaula has been appointed as the new Commander, succeeding Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed, who recently retired after a long and dedicated service of 42 years. Maj. Gen. Waliaula previously served as the Director of Defence National Security Industries.

The president also promoted Brigadier Joel Muriungi M’arimi and Brigadier Joyce Chelang’at Sitienei to the rank of Major General, assigning them as the Commandant of the Kenya Military Academy and Deputy Vice Chancellor for the Centre for Strategic and Security Studies at NDU-K, respectively. 

These appointments highlight the government's commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence and dedication within the military.

Furthermore, additional appointments and promotions were approved across the Kenya Army and Air Force, demonstrating a continued focus on professionalism and merit-based advancements. These changes aim to enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of the Kenya Defence Forces, ensuring that they remain a strong and reliable pillar of national security.
