According to the police report, Police Constable Benard Koome of the Special Police Intercept and Verification Unit (SPIV) was on his daily assignment of ensuring motorcycles in Thika displayed the official identification code for the town.
"An argument ignited between the officers and the rider who at the time was eating a pineapple," another eye witness added.
The police constable was overpowered by the rider who immediately drew his firearm and short the officer in the neck.
The other police officers dove for cover while returning fire. The gunman ran off escaping from the scene.
The boda boda gunman ran off and hijacked a motorcycle.
Martin Mburu, the owner of the motorcycle was trying to deliver a customer when he met his good day's destruction.It was later dumped and found in a nearby area.
The Officer later succumbed to the fatal injury after being rushed to Thika Nursing Home.
A loaded Ceska pistol magazine was later recovered together with two used 9mm cartridges.
Authorities immediately launched investigations and a manhunt for the assailant who Kenyans have been warned as armed and dangerous.
