CS Mbadi Defends Ruto's Government

By Michele Ochumi
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has come out in defense of President William Ruto's Government, dismissing criticism and highlighting key achievements.
Speaking in Suna West Sub-County on Sunday, Mbadi asserted that Kenya is in a better state under the current administration compared to the previous regime led by the former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
"What is it that is going on so bad that did not happen during Uhuru Kenyatta's tenure?" Mbadi posed to critics.
He emphasized that sectors such as tea and coffee have received adequate funding, yet leaders from regions like Central Kenya continue to claim that the government is not working.
Mbadi highlighted several notable accomplishments, including the full disbursement of funds to counties for the 2024/2025 financial year.
"During Uhuru's presidency, we did not transfer money to counties. Yet this year, we released all the allocations, including arrears we carried forward in 2023/24," Mbadi stated.
Mbadi noted that counties have received additional funds through sharable revenue, demonstrating the government's commitment to supporting them.
He also pointed out that all constituencies have received the full disbursement of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the 2024/2025 financial year, a feat that hadn't been achieved in almost ten years.
"The counties have also got additional funds in sharable revenue, and it's an indication that the Kenya Kwanza government is committed," John said.
With these achievements, Mbadi challenged critics to identify specific areas where the current government has underperformed compared to the previous administration.
