Funds Committee praises exemplary work from Kitutu Chache North Constituency Account Manager

BY ERIC ABUGA
The Decentralized Funds Accounts Committee has acknowledged the great work done by Kitutu Chache North Constituency Account Manager Edwin Kimutai.
Kimutai has served since 2013/2014. “Mr. Mutai is clearly a very hands-on Account Manager, despite handling two Constituencies simultaneously. He should be cited as an example for others to emulate,” MP Dorothy Muthoni said.
The Committee seeks to recommend the recognition and possible award of accolades to specific NG-CDF Managers for commendable service delivery.
The MPs called on the Board to convene a forum for all the Account Managers, the Board, and MPs to address audit matters that have been recurrent across multiple Constituencies.
Sitting in Kisii and Chaired by Mwingi Central MP Hon. (Dr.) Gideon Mulyungi, the Audit Committee has indicated its intentions to engage the NG-CDF Board on ways to sufficiently recognize positively performing Accounts’ managers across the 290 Constituencies and encourage others to emulate the good work of their colleagues.
The Committee convened meetings to audit Reports of the Office of the General on Bomachoge Chache, Kitutu Chache North, and Kitutu Chache South Constituencies for the FYs 2013/14 - 2022/23.
“It is time that the NG- CDF Board gives due recognition and accolades for work well done by some of these managers. And in the same way, the underperforming managers should be called out publicly to improve their service delivery,” said MP David Mboni.
According to the Committee Chairperson (Dr.) Mulyungi, the experience that the MPs have had at the helm of auditing NG-CDF Accounts demands for an inter-sectoral convention to highlight the successes and address the challenges faced by the Fund.
“Our experiences from workings with and auditing these managers should be used as a guide by the Board to promote, reward, retain, and even dismiss them accordingly.” He stated. Adding that “The Office of the Auditor General, the National Treasury, and the National Assembly must come together and discuss this matter for the sustainability of the Fund and ensure efficient service delivery to the people.
The Committee is scheduled to continue its audit of the accounts of Nyaribari Chache, Nyaribari Masaba, Kitutu Masaba, Borabu, and South Mugirango Constituencies in the next couple of days in Kisii County.
