IG Kanja, CS Murkomen Tour Riot-Hit Areas in Nairobi, Kiambu

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen on Thursday visited parts of Nairobi and Kiambu to assess damage caused by Wednesday’s violent protests.
The leaders toured OTC, Bus Station, and Nyamakima areas, where traders shared heartbreaking accounts of looting and destruction.
In a press briefing, CS Murkomen condemned the violence, blaming criminals who hijacked peaceful demonstrations to commit looting, arson, and assault.
He sympathized with victims and praised officers who acted swiftly to contain the chaos.
IG Kanja hailed their bravery and warned that all perpetrators will be tracked down and prosecuted.
The team also inspected Ruthimitu and Dagoretti Police Posts, and Kikuyu Law Courts, which were torched during the protests. Five firearms were stolen, and 25 suspects have been arrested.
Also present were senior security officials including PS Raymond Omollo and GSU Commandant Ranson Lolmodooni.
Investigations are ongoing as the government pledges to restore order.
