Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and top security officers appeared in the Senate to respond to queries on the recent killing of Albert Ojwang from Homabay County.
The Inspector General Douglas Kanja, National Police Service, Directorate of Crimminal Investigations Boss Mohamed Amin and The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Vice Chairperson Anne Wanjiku took the stand in the senate for the tragic loss of Ojwang.
The absence of IPOA chairman was noted and condemned by the Senators.
“The CCTV systems located at Central Police Station OCS office had been interfered with,” IPOA Vice Chairperson, Anne Wanjiku shocked the Senate."
She ruled out the theory of suicide.
This added more questions to the ongoing investigations.
Senator Boni Khalwale asked Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen to immediately resign.
Khalwale added that Murkomen is not an inspiration in the Kenya's Cabinet and Kenya.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen stated that officers found culpable will face the law.
He denied any claims of cover-up in the death of the X- user, Ojwang’ adding that he was not in a position to call for DIG Eliud Lagat’s resignation without sufficient evidence and insisted that the legal process should be followed.
