Tension rise as Bokeira youths stage protests

Youths of Bokeira ward in North Mugirango Nyamira county staged demonstrations to the office of the Member of County Assembly Joel Ombongi over claims of underdevelopment.

According to the youths the ward is lagging behind in terms of development despite budget allocations for every Financial Year.

It forced them back to the streets for the second time to inquire for accountability from the MCA.

“We asked him in our last meeting to ensure the area is fully developed. We have navigated the ward but nothing is accomplished,” Wycliff Lopen noted.

They are demanding the area MCA Joel Ombongi to come on broad daylight and answer why they are treated as minor residents.

“For the past three years our area has had no functional health facility, not even one ECDE teacher is employed under his regime and no classes for our ECDE learners,” Elijah Kerasio stated.

They are demanding the MCA to account on how the allocated money has been used. 

“We want the MCA to account for the allocation of money for various projects in the area . Failure to do so he must resign,” Fred Kabinga stated.

The youths are calling the MCA to resign and exit from office and pave the way for a competent leader to lead them .  

They are urging for the closure of the office due to illiteracy of workers in the office.
