Fatal accident at Daraja Moja claims lives of two

A fatal accident claimed two lives and left several injured after a car lost control and hit two matatus at Daraja Moja along Kisii Keroka road.

According to preliminary reports the casualties are nursing injuries at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. Nine of them being in critical condition and 10 sustained minor injuries.

The accident raised alarm to Kisii National Polytechnic students who use the road regularly.

“We have witnessed a severe accident at our gate and we are not pleased about it. We are urging the county government to ensure the road is attended to urgently because we are scared our lives are in danger,” Fridah Bosibori stated.

They urged Governor Simba Arati to urgently ensure pumps are reconstructed on the road to reduce frequent accidents along the area.

“We are in sorrow for what has happened. It is not the first time this has happened. We are urging governor Simba Arati to ensure the road has pumps, otherwise we will be forced to shut down the road to save our lives ," one of the students lamented.

The witnesses urged the drivers to be cautious and observe road safety rules while driving to reduce incidents of accidents.

“Traffic officers should be strict and ensure there is no reckless driving. Some drivers drive while drunk leading to fatal accidents ," a witness stated.
