Is constable Mukhwana honest about Ojwang's death
With Kenyans demanding accountability, one question arises: Is Mukhwana telling the truth about his role in the events of that fateful night, or is his confession a strategic move to protect himself while shifting the blame onto senior officers?

As public anger grows over the death of Ojwang in police custody, attention has shifted to the alleged confession by Constable James Mukhwana of the Nairobi Central Police Station.
With Kenyans demanding accountability, one question arises: Is Mukhwana telling the truth about his role in the events of that fateful night, or is his confession a strategic move to protect himself while shifting the blame onto senior officers?
In a statement reportedly submitted to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), Mukhwana claims that he was ordered by his superior to ensure that Ojwang' was disciplined upon arrival at the station. He alleges that these orders were issued by a senior officer.
According to Mukhwana, he was given Sh. 2,000 to buy alcohol for the inmates, encouraging them to attack Ojwang'. He identifies himself as having stepped back during the assault and only intervening later.
However, investigation sources indicate that Mukhwana's superior has told the authorities that he was not present during Ojwang's detention and beating, contradicting Mukhwana's claim of having received instructions.
Public opinion remains divided. Some view Mukhwana's confession as a courageous act that could lead to justice for Ojwang's family, while others see it as a calculated move by a man seeking to save himself from the burden of responsibility on him.
